LIG Nex1 opens 2nd Pangyo House, a hub for future technology development

LIG Nex1 has opened its 2nd Pangyo House, specializing in the development of future technologies for both defense and civil markets.
The opening ceremony, held on the 16th (Thursday), was attended by key executives and employees, including Koo Bon-sang, Chairman of LIG, and Shin Ick-hyun, CEO/President of LIG Nex1.
The 2nd Pangyo House is a facility equipped with state-of-the-art R&D and testing equipment, covering a total area of 57,210 square meters (about 17,000 pyeong).
It also features meeting rooms and seminar spaces designed to facilitate business and technology exchanges.
LIG Nex1 plans to utilize the 2nd Pangyo House as a workspace for its growing number of R&D personnel,
operating it alongside its existing facilities in Pangyo and Yongin to establish an eco-friendly R&D center.
LIG Nex1 is expected to significantly enhance its R&D capabilities through the convergence of business sectors in both defense and civil markets,
based on this new R&D center, alongside its sites in Gumi, Yongin, Pangyo, and Daejeon.
The 2nd Pangyo House is in close proximity to tech companies and partners located in Pangyo Techno Valley, enabling synergy and technological innovation across various fields.
LIG Nex1 is an R&D-centered company, with a total of 4,751 employees, 2,787 of whom work in research and development, accounting for about 60% of the workforce, as of the third quarter of 2024.
Under the belief, “R&D capabilities determine the success or failure of a company,” LIG Nex1 has spared no investment in recruiting core talent.
As a result, the total number of executives and employees has increased by around 45%, compared to 3,270 at the end of 2021.
With LIG Nex1 now experiencing a stable flow of orders in future sectors such as guided munitions, surveillance & reconnaissance, space, unmanned warfare, and cybersecurity,
the inauguration of the 2nd Pangyo House is expected to help the company effectively meet R&D demands from home and abroad and efficiently allocate its growing workforce,
serving as a springboard to strengthen its foundation for sustainable development.
